Much as seasons change, so do the days of our lives.
My first daughter was born as Summer gave way to Autumn. While leaves were changing to brilliant colors, our lives went from being a couple to being parents. This ushered in an unfamiliar rhythm to life at our house. An instant heart attachment we hadn’t felt before brought a special sweetness and snuggles, but also greater responsibility. Diapers, feeding schedules, interrupted nights, strollers, and so much more. We were young but determined to figure out how to care for her needs. And somehow we managed. She grew into a responsible woman with children of her own.
Life is transitional
September also means it’s back to school for the children. There’s a transition from the less hurried days of summer into the demands of the school year routine. Getting homework done is a top priority. Beyond academics is sports coupled with a vast range of chosen activities. And their required practice sessions. Some may want to explore a musical instrument or take an art class. Others might choose swimming or desire to become the next Ninja warrior. Whatever the child’s unique interest, it’s worth giving it a try. What it means is that life’s flow is at a faster pace and dinner hours might vary.
These are usually happy seasons of growth and times of building friendships with those who have shared interests.
Unwanted changes can also show up
To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1
In life’s Autumn season health troubles often show up in bigger numbers. No one would want this kind of change to pay them a visit. And yet, we know the only way to overcome this particular setback is to walk through the interruption as best we can. In the Fall of 2008 I was surprised to learn I needed open heart surgery. There was no other answer to resolve my particular problem. I was convinced God already knew what I was facing and the best I could do was to trust Him to carry me through. And He did.

God is watching over His children
Let’s never forget God Almighty, our Abba Father, never slumbers. His watchful eye is forever on every one of His children. Can we turn what surprises us, but not Him, over to His impeccable, all-capable care? If we do, peace will follow no matter the outcome.
Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7 NKJV
Prayer:
Lord, carry us through life’s seasonal changes with the beauty You give the Autumn leaves. Help us to see Your hand holding onto ours. Bring to mind Scripture verses that instill Your peace. Replace all anxiety with melodies of Your faithful love. Amen
